Velocity Lab
Purpose: To measure the average velocity of
several objects
Procedure: 1) Pick a toy and carefully wind it
up
2) Collect data on displacement and
time as it moves. Each toy needs
at least 6 data points
3) Repeat this for a total of 4 toys
4) Draw an X-T graph for each toy
5) Find the average velocity of each
toy by finding the slope of each best-fit line
Results: The average velocity for each toy. Remember to write this out.
Conclusion: Look at the distribution of data on
each graph. Which toy had the most
constant velocity? How could you
tell?
